DM Powdercoating System

DM Powder Coating System on Baseline Trailers
A trailer’s finish is more than just looks — it’s your first line of defense against corrosion, wear, and the elements. At Baseline, we use the same DM Powder Coating System trusted by Diamond C, ensuring that every trailer leaves the factory with a finish that’s as durable as it is attractive.
For Baseline, the focus is simple: two classic, proven colors — but behind them lies one of the most advanced coating processes in the industry.
Powder Coating Priorities
Our DM Powder Coating System is built on five key priorities:

Adhesion – A strong bond between steel and coating for long-lasting protection.

Corrosion Resistance – Shields against rust and weather exposure.

Chip & Abrasion Resistance – Built tough to stand up to real-world use.

Gloss & Color Retention – Maintains its finish over years of work.

Curb Appeal – A sharp look that reflects the quality of your trailer.

The DM Powder Coating Process
We don’t cut corners. Each Baseline trailer undergoes a 6-step process to ensure the most durable and consistent finish possible:

Step 1 – Blast Cleaning
Each trailer frame is blasted with steel shot to remove mill scale and create an anchor profile for primer adhesion.

Step 2 – 5-Stage Wash
Alkaline wash removes oils and blast dust.
High-pressure rinse.
Phosphate salt rinse adds rust inhibition and paint adhesion.
High-pressure rinse.
Final sealing rinse.
(All wash water is reverse-osmosis purified for consistency.)

Step 3 – Dry-Off Oven
Frames are baked at 300°F to prevent flash rust and prepare for primer application.

Step 4 – Zinc Epoxy Primer
An ultra-corrosion-resistant primer is electrostatically applied to cover every inch of steel.

Step 5 – Gloss Top Coat
A high-gloss, Onecure Technology top coat is applied for strength and shine.

Step 6 – Final Cure
The frame moves through a 165-foot convection oven, heated to 450°F, ensuring complete curing for both primer and top coat.
What Makes Our System Different
Powder Quality – We use IFS’s advanced ultra-durable powders, engineered for long-term protection.

Hardware – A 2,400’ powder line ensures trailers move steadily with no pushing or pulling, for even coverage.

Purity – Air systems include filters, separators, and refrigerated dryers, guaranteeing clean powder application.

Environmental Control – Applied in a climate-controlled booth (60–80°F) for consistency.

Oven Precision – Multi-point monitored airflow with 18 million BTUs of natural gas heat for complete curing.

Process Control – Daily audits and hourly inspections ensure every trailer meets strict quality standards.
Why It Matters for Baseline Owners
Some manufacturers only blast, some only wash, and others cut steps in between. Just like Diamond C Trailers, we do it right every time. The result is a powder coat finish that protects against rust, resists chipping, retains gloss, and keeps your trailer looking sharp — whether it’s on the jobsite, highway, or at the yard.

With the DM Powder Coating System, every Baseline trailer is built not just to perform, but to last.
